Due to the recent changes in our school schedule and how learning will be taking place, all large group performances will cancelled. I understand a large number of students have been working really hard in preparation for the upcoming Talent Show-- Ms. Harkins is working on a way to make this happen virtually, so please hang tight until this idea is ironed out.
In addition, Ms. Harkins is working on a DGS Virtual Choir. If you are interested Click Here Last, but not least, hug your loved ones, stay healthy, and check out the Music tab up top for musical ideas during this e-learning period of time. Hope to see you all soon! :) Ms. Harkins Talent Show Auditions will be held DURING SCHOOL next week 3/16-3/18. There are lists of students auditioning for this year's talent show posted outside of the music room. Only 15 acts will make it for this year's talent show and results will be posted on Friday, March 20th.
Talent Show acts will be chosen depending on level of talent, age, and type of act. All students chosen for the Talent Show MUST attend all dress rehearsals. The actual Talent Show will be held during school hours on Friday, March 27th from 9-10:00am in the DGS Café. Our band at DGS has been growing from year to year. What started as a small, 15 person ensemble, has now grown to 30-40 students in each group! With the growing numbers, the talent has also been growing as well. Here are some in awesome updates about the band for the Spring Semester: Citywide Honor Band
DGS will be represented in both the beginning band and intermediate band at this year's Citywide Band Festival. 5 of our 6th grade students will be in the beginning band, and the intermediate band has a DGS 7th grader and a DGS 8th grader! In order to have a position in these groups, students had to audition, and the best students were chosen to participate in the group. Way to go DGS! Wash Park Band Festival The 7th and 8th grade will be performing at this year's Wash Park Band Festival on April 28th. This year's festival is at South High School. All are welcome to come and enjoy the music and cheer on our DGS musicians! This club will travel to Loveland Ski Area twice this winter so that students have an opportunity to learn and enjoy skiing or snowboarding. These trips are on Friday, December 8 and Friday, February 23.
DGS Ski and Snowboard Club will travel to Loveland Ski Area on Friday, February 5, February 19, and March 4 this winter!
Auditions for Dragon Singers will be held this week, everyday after school. If interested in our after school choir, please grab the audition packet posted on the music door and fill it out. Next, sign up for a time slot to audition. Times range from 3:50-4:30p everyday this week! All of this information is posted on the music door! If you have additional questions, please email Ms. Harkins at [email protected]
What to prepare for a Dragon Singers audition: 1. A song of your choice! - This could be your favorite pop song, or movie tune. 2. Row Row Row Your Boat - We will be singing this song in canon (a round) so be sure of the tune. 3. My Country 'Tis of Thee (1st verse only) - You may use the words during this song, but it is best to have the melody memorized. I would suggest singing along with a YouTube video. The 1st Dragon Singers rehearsal will be September 9th from 4-5:00pm on the Stage! Good luck to all the singers out there! I can't wait to get started! |
